Global Benefits leads Dolby’s integrated approach to employee wellbeing—supporting team members through comprehensive core benefits and holistic programs that promote physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing. This includes health and welfare, retirement, time off and leave of absence, commute and business travel benefits, and additional fringe programs. The team partners cross‑functionally to foster a healthy, inclusive, and connected work environment.

 

Reporting to the Director, Global Benefits, the US Benefits Manager plays a critical role in delivering a high‑quality benefits experience for employees across the United States. This role is responsible for day‑to‑day strategy execution, governance, and operational oversight of all US benefit programs. The US Benefits Manager owns program management, vendor performance, compliance execution, budgeting, and employee experience outcomes for US benefits.

 

In addition, this role provides leadership and direction to the Sr. Benefits Analyst—setting priorities, reviewing work, and offering guidance and escalation support to ensure benefits operations are accurate, compliant, scalable, and employee‑focused.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Management & Strategy Execution

 

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and oversight of all US health and welfare, retirement, time off, and leave of absence programs.
  • Translate global benefits strategy into clear, executable US program plans, policies, and operational priorities.
  • Recommend and implement US plan and policy design changes aligned with business needs, workforce strategy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and support the work of the Sr. Benefits Analyst, including prioritization, execution, and quality review.

Operations & Administration

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits data across HRIS, payroll, and vendor platforms.
  • Oversee benefits administration platform governance, technology management, and evaluation of new tools.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Establish and maintain operational controls, audits, and documentation to support data integrity and a consistent employee experience.

 

Vendor Management

 

  • Lead relationships with brokers, third‑party administrators, and insurers, including performance management and issue escalation.
  • Manage all US health and welfare and other benefit contract renewals in partnership with brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate vendor performance against service standards, cost effectiveness, compliance requirements, and employee experience outcomes.

 

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor federal, state, and local legislative developments impacting US benefits programs, partnering with Legal, Finance, and People Operations to address changes.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with benefits, fiduciary, and data privacy regulations.
  • Maintain US plan documents, SPDs/SMMs, wrap documents, ERISA notices, and participant disclosures.
  • Oversee claims and appeals processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all US benefits governance and compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 filings, ACA reporting, and state and local filings.
  • Serve as Secretary for the US Retirement Plan Committee and manage fiduciary governance processes.
  • Act as HIPAA Privacy Officer for US benefits programs.

 

Employee Support & Experience

  • Serve as an escalation point for Tier 2/3 and complex benefits and leave of absence cases.
  • Provide consultation and advisory support on time off and leave of absence policies and complex employee situations.
  • Ensure US benefits information is accurate, current, and consistently represented across all employee platforms.
  • Lead the development and delivery of US benefits communications and education initiatives.

 

Budgeting & Financial Management

 

  • Develop US benefits budgets and forecasting assumptions in collaboration with brokers, consultants, and Finance.
  • Track and monitor US benefits spend in partnership with Finance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of all US benefits invoices.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience managing US benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement, and leave of absence.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal and state benefits regulations, compliance requirements, and governance practices.
  • Proven experience managing vendors, brokers, and consultants.
  • Experience working with benefits administration platforms, HRIS, and payroll integrations.
  • Strong analytical, operational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage complex programs at scale.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefits topics and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience leading or supervising the work of benefits analysts or administrators.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to the San Francisco headquarters.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
  • Experience in the high‑tech industry.

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is $109,700 - $150,600, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
