About the Role

In this exciting role, you will contribute to the testing of cutting edge audio processing technologies, including Dolby Atmos and related solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands on testing, automation, and collaboration, and who is looking to grow their technical depth and ownership within a supportive, expert team.

You will work closely with developers, product teams, and senior QA engineers to help ensure high quality software delivery across a range of platforms and products.

What You’ll Do

  • Understand and conform to QA standards and processes.
  • Provide input to early project scoping in collaboration with project and development teams.
  • Review proposed technologies, develop test strategies and contribute proposals for testability.
  • Provide input to project leadership tasks, including project and planning, task allocation, test progress tracking.
  • Lead test planning including test design, test coverage, test approach, risk assessment, and reporting metrics.
  • Design and implement new test methods to address next generation capabilities in Dolby products.
  • Design, set up, configure, and maintain software testing labs and environments.
  • Utilize and adapt existing test automation tools.
  • Design and develop new automation tools.
  • Report issues through a formal bug tracking system and work with the engineering team to help isolate, debug and resolve issues/bugs.
  • Participate in bug review meetings and analyze bug status data and metrics.
  • Represent QA as a member of the project teams.
  • Apply best practices for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management.
  • Stay abreast of industry software testing tools and best practices and make contributions to the development and deployment of new test technologies, tools or methods.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience working as software or software test engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience writing test automation scripts or tools, preferably using Python.
  • Demonstrable experience in test planning, test design and test reporting.
  • Experience testing software on one or more platforms such as Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, or iOS.
  • Ability to learn independently.
  • Exposure to multimedia, communications, DSP, or audio related technologies.
  • Experience using test automation frameworks.
  • Proven experience working with code versioning tools.
  • Understanding of the end to end software testing lifecycle.
  • Ability to identify risks and communicate test status clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in audio and multimedia technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital signal processing, or acoustics.
  • Experience with embedded software or hardware adjacent testing.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience testing audio playback devices such as TVs, set top boxes, streaming devices, or mobile platforms.
  • Understanding of audio processing pipelines across consumer or embedded platforms.
