Position Overview
The Microsoft 365 Administrator provides centralized operational administration for the Microsoft 365 tenant, ensuring stable day-to-day operations, consistent configuration, and strong governance across collaboration services. This role includes general Microsoft 365 administration such as tenant operations, delegated admin roles, service health monitoring, and operational support, with primary depth in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform, with a focus on Power BI. The objective is to build durable internal ownership and reduce reliance on external SharePoint-only support.
Essential Job Functions:
Microsoft 365 General Administration (Core)
- Administer Microsoft 365 tenant operations using the Microsoft 365 admin center to support reliable service delivery across Microsoft 365 workloads
- Apply appropriate Microsoft 365 administrative roles following least-privilege principles
- Monitor service health, advisories, and platform changes and coordinate operational response and escalations as needed
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and platform standards to enable consistent support and reduce single points of knowledge
SharePoint Online Administration (Primary Focus)
- Administer SharePoint Online site collections and hub sites including permissions, sharing configuration, storage, and access controls
- Establish and enforce SharePoint governance standards including site provisioning, lifecycle management (create, retain, archive), and information architecture such as metadata and content structure
- Troubleshoot SharePoint access, configuration, and content management issues and drive root-cause reduction and service reliability
- Support SharePoint restructuring and migrations for sites, libraries, and lists with documentation and minimal disruption to end users
Power BI – Build & Operate (Primary Focus)
- Design and build Power BI reports and dashboards, including visuals, layouts, and interactions
- Create and maintain Power BI datasets and semantic models, including relationships and measures
- Develop DAX measures and calculations to support business reporting needs
- Configure and maintain data sources, data transformations (Power Query), and refresh schedules
Automation Enablement
- Support teams building solutions on SharePoint and Power Platform by reviewing operational readiness including permissions, connectors, environment placement, and supportability
- Promote reuse of standard automation patterns such as approvals, notifications, and intake workflows to improve maintainability and reduce duplicated effort
Continuous Improvement
- Identify repeatable administrative tasks and drive operational improvements through standardization and automation where appropriate
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 administration experience in an enterprise environment
- Strong SharePoint Online administration experience including permissions, site management, governance, and troubleshooting
- Strong documentation discipline and stakeholder communication skills
- Practical experience in Power BI administration and report delivery
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
Nice to Have
- PowerShell scripting experience for SharePoint or Microsoft 365 administration and automation
- Familiarity with Power Platform adoption practices such as Center of Excellence models
- Experience building Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-driven apps), including UI design, data connections, and app deployment
- Exposure to broader Microsoft 365 collaboration workloads such as Teams and OneDrive to support cross-service troubleshooting and governance alignment
Job Expectations
- Demonstrate flexibility in work hours, including the ability to regularly support a later schedule (e.g., up to 11:00 PM IST) to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across U.S. time zones
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support critical IT operations and ensure business continuity
- Provide assistance and knowledge-sharing to team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment
