Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research and technology arm of Dolby Labs. It has multiple competencies that innovate technologies in audio, video, AR/VR, gaming, music, and movies. Many areas of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML, computer vision, image processing, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, natural language processing, knowledge engineering and management, social network analysis, computer graphics, image & signal compression, computer networking, IoT are highly relevant to our research. 

 

Currently, Dolby Beijing ATG team is looking for a talented, self-motivated Research Intern to investigate and develop spatial audio technologies for music. You will design, implement, and evaluate the audio processing algorithm with a good knowledge of signal processing, machine learning, and basic knowledge of music theory. 

 

This position will be in the Dolby Beijing office, reporting to Senior Staff Researcher. You are required to come to the office 5 working days per week, need meet 3 months internship period.

 

 

Essential Job Functions 

• Develop novel methods for UGC music processing in collaboration with researchers at Dolby Beijing
• Analyze and annotate audio/music content in collaboration with researchers and listening experts at Dolby Beijing
• Evaluate results of developed methods
• Document the methodology of experiments, methods developed, and results.
• Present results of developed methods


Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required

Desired Qualifications:
• Studying for a Ph.D in Electric Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar
• Strong knowledge of signal processing applied to audio/music
• Solid programming skills in MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++
• Basic knowledge of music
• Good communication and written skills in Chinese and English

Nice to have:
• Experience in audio processing research. Published paper is a plus
• Familiar with audio technologies, e.g., audio analysis, processing, and playback
• Familiar with music creation tools, e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro
• Familiar with machine learning technologies
• Familiar with audio coding technologies
• Knowledge of music theory
• Good listening skills
