Social Community Management & Engagement Specialist (Contract)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead real-time community engagement across Dolby’s global social platforms (Meta, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, RedNote, emerging platforms).
  • Proactively engage in culturally relevant conversations across entertainment, sports, film, gaming, and technology ecosystems.
  • Identify high-velocity cultural moments and engage in a way that is platform-native and brand-aligned.
  • Manage inbound comments, DMs, and mentions, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Develop ongoing community engagement playbooks and response frameworks (based on platforms)
  • Work with agency to develop reporting KPIs for CM
  • Work with global agency to develop ongoing updates in CM
  • Experience with Reddit and Discord a plus

Cultural & Event Coverage (Global)

  • Provide real-time coverage support for global tentpoles (e.g., awards shows, major sports events, film premieres, product launches).
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, aligned to global time zones.
  • Identify reactive engagement opportunities during live events.

Cross-Platform & Cross-Regional Support

  • Support the team across content publishing, social listening, reporting, and campaign amplification.
  • Drive information sharing between Global and regional social teams.
  • Track cultural insights and performance trends and share with stakeholders.
  • Help operationalize best practices across markets.
  • Coordinate ongoing reporting for CM; develop reporting cadence and create CM reports that showcase best practices, trends and learning/growth opportunities

Platform Growth & Innovation

  • Research emerging platforms and trends.
  • Support the launch and setup of new social channels.
  • Identify opportunities for experimentation and audience growth.
  • Stay ahead of algorithm shifts and evolving platform norms.

Insights & Reporting

  • Monitor engagement performance and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Provide weekly engagement and community health summaries.
  • Track audience sentiment and cultural relevance indicators.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is chronically online in the best way; someone who understands memes, tone shifts, creator culture, and platform nuance instinctively.
  • Knows when to participate in culture and when not to.
  • Understands the difference between polished brand copy and conversational, platform-native engagement.
  • Can move quickly without sacrificing judgment.
  • Is deeply collaborative and comfortable working across regions and time zones.
  • Has strong instincts for protecting and evolving brand voice.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in social media and community management.
  • Experience working with entertainment, technology, sports, or media brands preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing brand communities across multiple platforms.
  • Experience supporting real-time event coverage strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of social listening tools and native platform analytics.
  • Experience launching or scaling new social platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a strong grasp of tone.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required for global events.

The Los Angeles Area hourly rate range for this position is $30-$35, which can vary if outside these locations. Our ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific range during the hiring process.
