We continue to revolutionize how people create, deliver, and enjoy entertainment worldwide. To do that, we need the absolute best talent. We’re big enough to give you all the resources you need, and small enough so you can make a real difference and earn recognition for your work. We offer a collegial culture, challenging projects, and excellent compensation and benefits, not to mention a Flex Work approach that is truly flexible to support where, when, and how you do your best work.
The role:
For Dolby’s PC Applications, you will play a critical role in defining, evolving, and driving Software Quality Assurance (SQA) strategy across a portfolio of consumer-facing, client-side applications used at global scale.
As a Staff Engineer – SQA, you operate at both strategic and hands-on technical levels. You shape longterm SQA direction, design scalable test and automation frameworks, and influence engineering and product decisions across multiple teams.
This is a senior technical leadership role focused on impact, standards, and sustainability. It is not a people management position.
What we offer:
-
Work on a portfolio of consumer-facing PC applications with global reach.
-
An engineering led Software Quality Assurance culture that values ownership and longterm sustainability.
-
Modern development and validation workflows, including CI/CD driven quality gates.
-
The opportunity to shape SQA strategy, frameworks, and standards across teams.
-
A role with real technical influence and longterm organizational impact.
What you will do:
-
Define and evolve Software Quality Assurance (SQA) strategy, standards, and longterm direction across multiple PC applications.
-
Design, own, and evolve scalable SQA automation frameworks and validation strategies.
-
Establish quality metrics, benchmarks, and release criteria to enable predictable, highquality delivery.
-
Identify systemic quality risks and lead cross-team SQA initiatives to address them.
-
Ensure SQA practices are built into development workflows, including CI/CDbased validation and quality gates.
-
Partner with software engineering, product, and leadership to influence quality and delivery decisions.
-
Act as a technical authority and trusted advisor on SQA topics across the organization.
-
Mentor senior SQA and software engineers, raising quality awareness and technical standards across teams.
What you bring
Required:
-
Deep experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA), quality engineering, or test architecture for complex, production grade software systems.
-
Strong hands-on experience with SQA automation and quality tooling, using scripting or programming languages such as Python.
-
Proven ability to design, evolve, and own SQA automation frameworks and validation strategies across multiple test levels (unit, integration, system, endtoend).
-
Strong understanding of CI/CDdriven development and SQA validation workflows, including quality gates and release readiness.
-
Ability to analyze, debug, and reason about issues in C#based client applications, even if not writing production application code daily.
-
Experience applying SQA practices to client-side, consumer-facing applications with high requirements for stability, reliability, and quality at scale.
-
Ability to operate at both hands-on technical and strategic levels, influencing SQA and delivery decisions across teams.
-
Strong technical judgment, ownership mindset, and the ability to communicate SQA risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Nice to have:
-
Experience building SQA frameworks or tooling in Python.
-
Familiarity with Windows based client application platforms.
-
Experience debugging system level or native components (e.g. C++ dependencies).
-
Experience defining organizationwide SQA standards, metrics, or release criteria.
