Enabling our partners to create spectacular Dolby-enabled content is a critical step to ensuring that consumers can regularly experience content in the best possible way.  This then supports the growth in sales of consumer products with integrated Dolby technologies, as more and more consumers recognize the benefits that Dolby-enabled content and products bring to their entertainment experiences.  As we look to efficiently scale the amount of content created in Dolby formats, the Associate Content Engineer is an important role to ensure that the content creation community has the skills, knowledge and experience to create the most spectacular content in Dolby Vision.


Key responsibilities include

  • Enabling content creation facilities to create spectacular content in Dolby Vision annd provide expertise and training to these customers on Dolby tools and Dolby technology embedded in 3rd party tools
  • Provide Tier 1 support for post-production facilities
  • Deliver Certification of Dolby Vision grading facilities
  • Deliver and assist with the development of training for end users and other 3rd parties


This role is focused on enabling the India, SEA, MENA markets and is within Dolby’s Commercial Partnerships group (CP).  It reports to the Content Lead, India and will work as part of the team focused on supporting our content creation partners and facilities.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Provide content engineering expertise that involves educating post-production facilities on the requirements and workflows for Dolby Vision HDR grading and delivering customer demos. Sharing best practices and answering customers questions related to Dolby Vision content creation, distribution (mezzanine workflows to the output of the post-production facilities) and high-level distribution and playback requirements. You will bring in additional Dolby subject matter experts where needed.
  • Perform the commissioning of post-production/color grading facilities wishing to be certified by Dolby. This requires training colorists and facilities engineers on how to color grade in Dolby Vision HDR and associated workflows and validating that they are capable of outputting a Dolby Vision master/mezzanine with correct metadata. You will also need to ensure that the color grading monitor being used meets or exceeds the target parameters defined by Dolby such as contrast ratio, light output, color performance, etc.,  as well as validate the personnel and facility understand and implement the required workflows correctly.
  • Conduct workshops, training days, industry events, prepare documentation and training materials.  A key part of the role is to spread the knowledge of HDR beyond Dolby’s walls out into the industry/ecosystem.  This will also include attending major trade shows and conducting presentations, helping with customer meetings by providing expertise in HDR and post-production.
  • Support the development of training materials for, and assist in training, 3rd parties (eg. train-the-trainer) who will be critical to Dolby’s ability to efficiently scale the number of skilled colorists and other individuals who will create Dolby Vision content.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for certified post-facilities and strategic partners. Support activities will be tracked through Dolby’s case management and ticketing system as appropriate and defined in SoPs.
  • Actively contribute to internal knowledge management by sharing relevant information on Dolby’s KM platforms.  As the external platforms and user base develops, you will participate in customer-facing user forums for Dolby’s content creation tools and those of our partners.  You will also help build a knowledge community of users who can help each other get the answers they need.



Required Skills and Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree or similar (Physics, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) with 3-5 years of experience in video post-production or related fields.
  • Technical skills and good knowledge of production and post-production workflows and technologies.  In depth knowledge of at least one grading system and configuration.
  • Knowledge of color science, formats and workflows for post-production (Cinema DNG, ACES, ProRes, TIFF sequences, etc.)
  • The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, to be a proven team player with strong work and business ethics and seek to be part of a high-performance team that is growing and desires to do the best work possible. The role requires the ability to document and write structured reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically.
  • It is vital that applicant can quickly and thoroughly learn a variety of technical topics in a short time.
  • Self-motivated, self-assured person with aptitude to interface with personnel across the customer engineering organizations.


Additional Preferred Skills and Education:


  • About 3 years of experience in a technical customer support role, including delivery of tier 1 support.
  • Deep Production and/or Post-Production experience.
  • Direct experience in color grading, editing, motion graphics or VFX. 
  • Experience in training people on new software and/or hardware.  Including developing a training curriculum and conducting classes or webinars.
  • Hands on experience with Resolve, Baselight, Clipster, Transcoder preferred.
  • The ability to explain complicated technical concepts in clear concise everyday language as well as get deeply technical and communicate with engineers and product managers.
  • Good relations and contacts within the production and post-production community will be an added advantage.


The position is based in Mumbai and may require regular domestic travel and some international travel.
