Job Summary

This role is a part of Commercial Partnerships, Europe. Reporting to the EMEA Technology and support organization, Field Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for Dolby’s consumer electronics customers in Europe duing pre-sales, product development and post-sales. This role will require a thorough understanding of Dolby technologies and detailed knowledge of applications for defined market segment(s).


Job Functions

Technology and design-in Support

  • Develop in-depth understanding of Dolby’s technical deliverables and support existing and new customers in acoustic design, product evaluation and integrating these deliverables.
  • Provide detailed technical support to the customer base while acting as a technical expert for Dolby technologies to drive successful design-in.
  • Provide technical analysis of product test results and recommend necessary changes to ensure successful test completion.



  • Understand customer requirements, deliver technical presentations, technology demonstrations, customer trainings and promote the value proposition of Dolby Audio technologies to customers.
  • Work closely together with Key Account managers in Europe, provide technical expertise and help to interface across sales and engineering departments.


Ongoing Customer and Stake holder communication

  • Interface pro-actively with engineering departments at customers and potential customers in defined market areas and applications.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and up to 5 years of progressive professional technical experience in consumer electronics related industry.
  • Experience in electroacoustic design principles, measurement tools as well as excellent listening skills are highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the evaluation and integration of audio components such as transducers and amplifiers into A/V products is desirable.
  • Ideally, experience should come from working for an audio/video technology/product organisation or a semi-conductor company (i.e. supporting companies making finished goods from their ICs).
  • Knowledge of Programming (embedded and signal processing), Operating systems, middleware and scripting languages (like Python) is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of OTT/VoD and broadcast standards, formats and workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical concepts and conduct trainings.
  • Interest in music, video or gaming is desirable.
  • Strong organization skills to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Thorough training on Dolby’s technologies and licensing practices will be provided.
