As the Business Technology Leader for Automotive, you’ll play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between engineering development and the successful definition and execution of Dolby's Automotive strategy. Collaborating closely with your colleagues in the Business team, you will own the technology strategy and execution for Dolby’s Automotive business segment. You will leverage your deep Automotive industry experience and broad professional network to provide well-informed tech insights and expertise that shape our strategic direction and unlock innovation opportunities to grow the business. You will work with peers across the company as you develop the Automotive technology strategy, prioritize development efforts, and oversee coordinated delivery of all Automotive technology projects to successfully bring Dolby’s automotive technologies to market.
Responsibilities
Own the Automotive Technology Strategy
· Define the technology vision and strategy for the Automotive business segment.
· Stay abreast of emerging technology trends across the Automotive supply chain that could impact Dolby technology use cases and opportunities in Automotive infotainment, including OEMs, middleware and OS vendors, SoC / DSP capabilities and architectures, display and loudspeaker innovations, app development and deployment.
· Identify requirements and opportunities for Automotive entertainment technologies and experiences across established and emerging content ecosystems, including music, premium A/V, UGC, gaming, and XR.
· Offer an informed perspective on future technology landscape, translating it to specific opportunities that shape Dolby's automotive technology and business strategy for the next 3-5 years.
· Apply your deep understanding of the Automotive industry and technologies to push boundaries while aligning with Dolby's offerings and business objectives.
Foster External interest in Dolby technology
· Proactively seek new Automotive technology partnerships and opportunities.
· Ensure Dolby technology is represented in these partner conversations, engaging the right team to advance the conversation with unique ideas and proposals and consistent follow-through.
· Cultivate trust and confidence among business and sales leaders, establishing engineering as a key collaborator in new ventures.
Streamline Project Delivery
· Collaborate with global Technology Centers to staff the right mix of people on projects to
achieve business goals.
· Monitor whether technology projects are on track and work with the appropriate stakeholders to address issues as they arise.
· Facilitate cross-project collaboration and ability to achieve higher level business goals that span organizational boundaries.
· Build and maintain respect and credibility with engineers, including those not reporting to you, and offer effective technical direction and guidance across project teams.
Requirements
· At least 10 years’ experience in engineering roles focused on developing and deploying innovative Automotive media and infotainment technologies.
· Extensive technological expertise in the Automotive infotainment space, from processor / SoC capabilities and limitations to multimedia architecture design and app development, with the ability to quickly learn and build-up sufficient knowledge to lead across the breadth of areas that are relevant to the Automotive business segment.
· Proven track-record of engineering project leadership for large, cross-functional initiatives.
· Skillful influencer, adept at leading teams across different geographies and disciplines without formal authority.
· Strong communicator and visionary; capable of providing clear direction and inspiring other to share and enact the vision, while also building consensus with Entertainment leaders/other key stakeholders.
· Highly accountable for achieving business outcomes through technology strategy and project execution, understanding how to steer engineering projects in the right direction.
· Possess managerial courage; willingness to have tough conversations with other leaders/
employees to come to key decisions.
· Mindset of cross-functional collaboration; in addition to working with multiple engineering teams you will seamlessly partner with business and sales leaders and meaningfully contribute to adjacent business discussions/ forums that have an impact on the direction of Dolby's business strategy.
· Strong motivation and passion for developing Dolby technology in the Automotive segment; innately curious about technology trends and new possibilities for Dolby.
· Balance between future-focused thinking and current execution, weighing a 3–5-year perspective alongside overseeing business priorities.
Experience with Dolby technologies would be an asset.
