Duration: 6 months, full-time

Start date: October

Overview:

Dolby develops technology that enables a Dolby Atmos experience in car cabins. Our customers integrate the Dolby software into their In-vehicle infotainment system, and in their audio processing stack. To ensure a correct integration into the car system and a best possible car cabin tuning, acoustic measurements are key. Up to now, these measurements are based on single-microphone captures, taken at multiple locations in the car cabin.

Subject of this project is to research existing acoustic measurement methods based on microphone arrays, and investigate their potential for reducing measurement time, increasing quality, and versatility of the results. Based on the investigations, you would propose an updated measurement method that ideally covers multiple test cases in one measurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Research in the field of car cabin measurements based on microphone arrays,
  • Evaluation and comparison of different measurement approaches,
  • Documentation of the results,
  • Support in improving existing test procedures with new measurement methods.

Qualifications :

  • Students in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or comparable education,
  • Knowledge in room acoustics and related measurement approaches,
  • Interest in audio and measurement hardware (microphones, audio interfaces, audio analyzer),
  • Good knowledge of digital audio signal processing and related development tools (e.g. MATLAB, NumPy, SciPy, REW),
  • Good communication and writing skills in English.
