Position Summary

As leader of audio innovation, Dolby explores new ways of delivering immersive audio experiences and is involved in many standardization activities, such as MPEG, 3GPP and Bluetooth. Based in Nuremberg, Germany, the candidate will be part of those efforts and will research, create, and maintain technologies contributing to those standards, with a focus on virtual and augmented reality audio (6 degrees of freedom). This will enable them to engage with other world-class industry-experts on the matter of audio rendering, audio coding and everything that is related to it. The role includes the whole range from research of the underlying theoretical concepts, over the development of prototypes and documentation, to the presentation of those ideas to internal stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for unresolved issues and future-looking features in next-generation audio experiences, including MPEG-I 6DoF audio rendering and metadata compression.

  • Develop algorithms from conception in real environments and integrate into complex systems.

  • Write comprehensive documentation as starting point for our standardization work and publications.

 

Qualifications

  • Student

  • Deep understanding of spatial audio technologies and acoustics

  • Working knowledge of Python and/or C++

  • Fluent in spoken and written English

  • Open-minded and can-do attitude
