You will drive the People Relations agenda across the EMEA region at Dolby. Whilst taking the lead and “owning” the overall approach to labour relations matters across Europe this individual contributor role will consider both global and local needs, build strong partnership with local People Business Partners, US corporate / regional based People Team, Legal, functional specialists and business leaders to enable and support a proactive approach to any change programs. 

 

Reporting to the Director, EMEA Employee Experience this role works directly with people leaders, employees, CoEs and the People Business Partners and People Operations functions to meet human resources needs, provide input to program design and ensure consistent employee engagement across the organization.

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • One Dolby: Balance both global and local cultures and needs into One Dolby Employee experience and promote the company´s vision, goals and values
  • People Relations Agenda: Drive the agenda across the EMEA region, considering both global and local needs. 
  • Partnerships: Build strong partnerships with local People Business Partners, US corporate/regional People Team, Legal, functional specialists, and business leaders to support proactive change programs. 
  • Labor Relations: Act as the primary People Team interface with the Works Council in Germany and oversee relations with other labor representatives across Europe. Lead negotiations and/or be responsible for internal coordination to support collective consultations and negotiations. 
  • Legal Advice: Provide expert advice on German labor law and European data privacy law. 
  • Strategies and Initiatives: Develop and implement employee relations strategies and initiatives that align with company policies and legal requirements. 
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into employee grievances and disciplinary matters, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies. 
  • Manager Support: Support and guide managers in handling complex employee relations issues and maintaining positive employee relations. 
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and review of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor laws and alignment with business goals. 
  • Training: Prepare and deliver training sessions on employee relations topics, labor law compliance, and best practices. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Work on projects such as employee satisfaction, retention, and attrition. 
  • Trend Analysis: Monitor and analyze employee relations trends and develop proactive solutions to address potential issues. 
  • Dispute Management: Manage dispute and investigation processes, including initiation, management, and documentation. 
  • Coaching: Provide coaching and guidance to managers and leaders on best People Relations practices and strategies for managing performance issues. 
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with managers and leaders on changes to organizational structure, work practices, and employment terms and conditions. 
  • Change Mediation: Mediate and guide during change processes. 
  • Customer Service: Drive a high level of customer service and build trusted relationships. 
  • Problem Mitigation: Work with People Team colleagues, specialists, leaders, and employee representative forums to understand and mitigate potential problems. 
  • Legislative Monitoring: Monitor relevant employment legislative developments in Europe and evaluate business impact. 
  • Compliance: Assess, interpret, and analyze changes in European Employment law and develop proactive solutions while maintaining compliance. 

 

 

 

Key Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Experience: 8+ years of working knowledge and experience with European employment and labor regulations. 
  • Education: Degree in law, employee relations, industrial relations, human resources, business, or a related field. 
  • Legal Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with German labor laws; expertise in European data privacy law as well as knowledge and experience in another European jurisdiction is an asset. 
  • Language Skills: Fluency in German and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; another European language is an advantage. 
  • Employee Relations: Proven background in Employee Relations; previous HR Business Partner, employment legal, or management experience is a plus. 
  • Innovation: Innovative thinking to drive changes and process improvements. 
  • Cultural Adaptability: Ability to work in a complex and multi-cultural environment. 
  • Works Councils Experience: Proven experience working directly with works councils in Germany and employee representatives elsewhere in Europe together with the specialists/leadership who present to these forums. 
  • Leadership: Influential leader with the ability to establish professional credibility quickly. 
  • Adaptability: Proactive, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Communication: Team player with strong influencing skills and the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with various stakeholders. 
  • Business Practices: Knowledge of strong business practices and professionalism; developed customer service mindset. 
  • Team Collaboration: Strong team collaboration and ability to support and motivate others to achieve goals. 
  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial or confrontational situations. 
  • Issue Resolution: Ability to drive issues to resolution while maintaining an atmosphere of collaboration.
