We are excited to now come to Ireland where we are opening an office in Dublin. As part of our growth here we are looking for an experienced Patent Paralegal to join our European patent group and to protect rights to our innovations.  This is a great opportunity to help us open and grow our Irish office. The job will be a very flexible hybrid role. 


In this role as a Patent Secretary you will:


  • Review patent correspondence and extract relevant information
  • Initiate filing of EP and PCT applications, including preparing complex legal documents for such patent filings
  • Deal with formal requirements such as preparing and filing subsequent documents with the European Patent Office (EPO)
  • Maintain records related to the prosecution of patent applications
  • Support special projects related to our client's worldwide patent portfolio
  • Work collaboratively and positively with internal patent attorneys, patent agents, and international law firms utilizing in-depth knowledge of foreign patent rules and requirements
  • Assist with docketing of patent information and review deadlines for accuracy
  • Actively establish strong working relationships, freely share information, and collaborate with IP and Legal department personnel in Ireland and worldwide
  • Update policies and procedures to accommodate changes in internal accounts and legal considerations
  • Ensure compliance with patent handling procedures
  • Provide other support services such as organizing travel and meetings, preparing reports and presentations, and providing backup to other Patent Paralegals and docketing personnel


The ideal Patent Secretary:

  • BSc or Bachelor's degree in the Legal or Business field
  • 2 plus years in a similar role(s)
  • Experience  with and knowledge of EPO applications, such as EPO Online Account, CMS, EPO filing software, EPO Mailbox
  • Experience with Anaqua or other docketing systems is highly desirable
  • Patent research skills are desirable, including working knowledge of online research tools in PAIR, Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, and other foreign patent office databases
  • The ability and willingness to learn new software applications
