Reporting to the Vice President of Intellectual Property Protection in our San Francisco headquarters, the Director, Licensing & Audit Data Strategy will manage and lead a team responsible for broad scale data analysis, business systems analysis and project planning, as well as ad hoc analyses related to systems, large datasets, licensees, products and marketplace trends. This role will also be responsible for refining and enhancing current processes and assisting with the launch of several new compliance initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

Data Management and Stewardship:

  • Develop and manage processes to rationalize disparate data values, to enable connections among related data
  • Manage overall data landscape, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Become Subject Matter Expert on our data universe, including the underlying meaning/what the data represents
  • Proactively look for/troubleshoot data errors/issues, and drive fixes within the team, with IT department’s help
  • Review deliverables of other team members for accuracy and completeness
  • Drive processes and come up with ideas for improving data quality
  • Liaison with internal teams to manage and integrate new types of data

Systems Analysis, Project Management, and Training:

  • Devise and implement new (or changes to existing) reports/data within our reporting tools
  • Manage our team’s enhancement requests with IT department (user testing, project management, etc.)
  • Train internal and external teams on tools, reports, and data analysis
  • Create efficiencies and automate manual tasks
  • Adhoc projects as necessary

Data Analysis and Targeting of Non-Compliant Licensees:

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on licensee activity in preparation for compliance audits
  • Take a wide, evidence-based view of the team's compliance methods, and apply learning to recommend improvements
  • Refine existing targeting methods and develop new ways of connecting data, in order to find non-compliant licensees
  • Put targeting methods into use across our data universe, in order to find non-compliant licensees

Management and Leadership:

  • Manage, mentor, and grow team of data management professionals tasked with supporting Dolby’s global license compliance program and other groups within Dolby
  • Refine and enhance current processes to increase productivity and maximize recoveries
  • Assist with the launch of several new compliance initiatives

 

Skills and Qualities:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Able to make connections and synthesize data from different sources, in order to provide insight to others
  • Able to lead multiple projects, with limited supervision
  • Effective in collaborative relationship building with internal and external teams
  • Prior management experience of a team of data professionals

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of data management and/or analysis skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or Engineering; Graduate degree (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership & people management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP Business Intelligence
