The Strategic Planning & Insights team is at the forefront of key initiatives to get closer to consumers and Dolby fans to understand how to best connect with them. We are looking for someone who is passionate about music, and understanding music fan motivations for brand, product, and category engagement. You approach things from a unique POV, with a high level of curiosity and are driven to uncover meaningful insights. A data-driven and strategic minded storyteller, who can develop and execute cutting edge research initiatives. This role is a critical part of evolving how Dolby thinks about and markets to consumers, translating consumer learning into actionable strategic guidance that will drive revenue growth.


As a Consumer Insights manager, you will help shape a world-class Insights, Strategy and Analytics function within Dolby. In this role, you will work with marketing, business groups, and the commercial partnerships teams across Geos to illuminate meaningful insights and provide a deep understanding of consumers globally. Your work will have a direct impact on how Dolby positions our music/UGC offerings and influence the experiences.



  • Conduct in-house qualitative and quantitative projects, analyses & reporting
  • Expertly manage relationships with research agencies globally, and help audit these relationships to ensure that we are using the best possible partners
  • Function as an insights and VOC subject-matter expert on the consumer/customer for Dolby in the Music and User Generated Content categories
  • Use research as a front-end for consumer strategy to go beyond basic findings and develop ‘metrics and insights that matter’
  • Craft stories from data and insights that present learnings in a visual format with a compelling message
  • Work in close partnership with our sister teams within marketing to realize project goals



  • 7-10 years of overall insights and research work agency and/or client-side with a true balance of qual and quant hands-on expertise
  • Strong Excel or similar tool (e.g., SAS, SPSS) proficiency with a focus on quantitative research datasets
  • Deep knowledge and expertise writing screeners, surveys and discussion guides
  • Strong experience managing and leading global research/insights initiatives including partner agency engagement from project start to finish
  • Stellar presentation skills, with comfort telling our story to anyone from junior to C-Suite levels
  • A track record of partnership and collaboration, providing strategic guidance to stakeholders
  • Proven experience using insights to inform brand strategy and positioning


Preferred Experience

  • Graduate degree in marketing, business or the Social Sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization
  • Experience with social listening tools (e.g., Netbase) and social platform analytics
  • Experience with customer loyalty panels (e.g., Fuel Cycle)
  • 2-3 yrs. hands-on experience with survey tools(e.g., Qualtrics)
  • Insights experience in the gaming category
  • Experience with UX research
