Summary 

The Acoustic Mapping team is seeking an intern to help explore the future of an exciting new technology! The intern will investigate data-driven and/or AI techniques for extracting spatial information from acoustic data. This includes leveraging acoustic simulations and data augmentation techniques, experimenting with different neural network topologies, and data mining real-world acoustic captures for relevant trends and statistics. Prototyping and testing algorithms will involve programming in Python and may involve MATLAB, C, or C++ depending on the project trajectory. At the end of the internship period, you’ll present your work to the Sound Technology Research department and document it in a final report – which may also culminate in an academic paper or IP filing. 

  

Qualifications 

The project content can be tailored to the individual, but the relevant skills include: 

  • Keen interest in audio and acoustics 

  • Strong programming skills: 

  • Proficiency with Python required 

  • Familiarity with PyTorch, MATLAB, C/C++ desired 

  • Strong signal processing skills 

  • Demonstrable experience with applied AI 

  • Demonstrable experience with data mining / analysis 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Eligibility 

Working towards a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Must be available to work full-time Monday–Friday for 3 months starting from January 2023 - April 2023. 

 

Start date for the internship is as follows: (*note* this date is not flexible) 

  • Monday, January 30, 2023
