The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research division of the company. ATG’s mission is to look ahead, deliver insights, and innovate technological solutions that will fuel Dolby’s continued growth. Our researchers have a broad range of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML, algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, image processing, computer vision, data science & analytics, distributed systems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, computer networking, and IoT.
Our team is looking for an intern who has a passion for analyzing technology & industry trends, economic and technology control points within the entertainment industry and harvesting insights from signals and data analysis. This internship assists our team by building out key industry data sets that are not currently being tracked at Dolby and integrating them into our trend analysis. You will also be asked to perform deeper dives and competitive analysis in key areas of focus for Dolby research. You will present your analysis, insights and recommendations to relevant research teams and business group partners within Dolby. You will also help to build up automated trackers of key industry data for our research leads to benefit from and assist in our broader landscape analysis capabilities.
We seek a resourceful and organized hard worker who works well with people, but who can also work independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will have the opportunity to work across our research organization to understand their more specific needs from our landscape data and reports. What are the clear signals, point of views and industry understanding they are looking for and collate that information into digestible reports / presentations.

Build out important data sets & trackers (market, device, services, user behaviors) to stay on top of key trends, economic control points, supply chain and changing generational habits. Automate these trackers if possible

Perform research into key emerging technology trends and distill the relevance / implications to Dolby. Potential topics include virtual worlds, creator economy, interactive entertainment and smart home device control.

Perform competitive analysis into specific exploratory research areas Dolby is focusing on

Assist with our annual technology landscape analysis to frame / identify exploratory research, inform business alignment, and support prioritization decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Currently, doing an MBA or business leaning Masters / PhD in computer science, data analytics technical, or related fields.

Passion for audio / visual products and experiences

Able to analyze market data to understand economic control points and model addressable market

Demonstrated ability to reduce large datasets into well designed data graphics.

Examples of data modeling, forecasting and analytics creation

Knowledge of strategic analysis tools and methods

Interest and understanding of:

Product and competitive landscape analysis

ability to quickly learn and build-up sufficient knowledge in order to inform technology strategy

Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; excellent team member.

ELIGIBILITY
Working towards an MBA or business leaning Masters / PhD in computer science, data analytics technical, or related fields; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday–Friday for 3 months starting from May/June 2023.

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $39 - $47/hr., and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific hourly range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
