We are seeking a seasoned, Director of Product Management to lead the global product management team that creates professional SDKs and core services powering Dolby’s next generation audio and imaging experiences, including Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio. The position reports to the Senior Director of the Professional Products & Solutions team, and is based at Dolby HQ in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, USA. Our charter is to enable the Media Processing and Delivery infrastructure ecosystem to deliver spectacular Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio experiences to their audiences through Broadcast, PayTV or OTT delivery pathways for Live-Linear and On Demand content.


Working closely with key ecosystem players such as Media Processing Products suppliers, Video SaaS providers and key partners such as AWS Elemental, Harmonic, MediaKind and Bitmovin, we expect you to drive Dolby’s Professional Licensing products that provide the best value to those partners, are simple to deploy and reliable. Your mission is to successfully grow our footprint in the Media Processing ecosystem to scale the delivery of Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio experiences.

 

In doing so, you, as the Pro Licensing Products business owner, will work closely with Dolby’s Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio playback business owners, our own Professional ecosystem enablement team and Dolby’s commercial partnership team to define the product vision and lead the go-to-market strategies and execution. You should be customer-centric with strong business acumen and technical depth with hands-on experiences in defining, building, and launching licensing technologies and products. As a team leader, you will define clear product vision and goals, build and grow an exceptional team, drive organizational focus and alignment and create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.

 

Essential Job Functions


• Manage the Pro Licensing SDKs and Toolkits products portfolio across Professional Audio and Professional Imaging technologies designed to encode, package and deliver Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision experiences.
• Define and execute the long-term vision and strategy for the professional licensing products portfolio. Synthesize ideas on strategy, planning and execution of next generation of pro licensing products, building consensus and driving execution.
• Manage the alignment of the product strategy with Dolby’s core initiatives strategies (Vision, Atmos, AC-4) to achieve our workflow enablement goals and our services launch goals. Iterate on the product strategy definition and execution with key internal stakeholders to ensure product needs and readiness timeline are captured with clarity and consensus.
• Lead a team of high performing product managers by creating an environment where each team member does their best work  and has a high degree of autonomy. Apply a strong focus on coaching and staff members’ career growth and development.
• Create an environment where great ideas are heard, evaluated and invested in.
• Manage the product roadmaps and specification of requirements while driving execution across the
organization and making strategic tradeoffs.
• As the team leader you get things done, prioritizing and making effective decisions.

• Assertively identify opportunities for improvement. Establish processes and metrics to measure effectiveness and drive products or operational improvements. Identify synergies across the portfolio to streamline our product offering.
• Provide vision and market direction input to engineering and technology teams to develop new technologies and products for the Media Processing and Delivery ecosystem.
• Lead the delivery of high-performance innovative products that can be easily integrated in our pro partners’ hardware, software and Cloud based products and services. Work closely with the Pro Ecosystem Enablement team to help think through our go-to-market models and packaging/solutioning around these products.
• Oversees product life cycle (from ideation to EOL), product design; and in coordination with the engineering leaders optimizes the investment profile.
• Collaborate across the company (development, QA, technologies group, technical publications, sales, sales-ops, marketing, finance, legal, and program management) to ensure the success of your product.
• Maintain product and market knowledge. You should keep abreast of market trends and analyses. Knowledge.

 

Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements


• 7+ years of experience in Product Management.
• 5+ years of experience in people management.
• Strong leadership, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. You will have a charismatic
public presence with the talent to synthetize complex topics and present them effectively.
• Self-driven, with the ability to work independently and lead collaboratively diverse teams, both
functionally and geographically.
• Strong ability to influence, to lead either by advocacy or enquiry to drive internal alignment and
focus.
• An established track record of managing licensing technologies products is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of the media processing ecosystem. You should understand how Broadcast, PayTV, OTT
delivery workflows works, and have some domain expertise in video/audio encoding, packaging and QC/Monitoring products and solutions. Understand how the Media Processing ecosystem is transitioning to Cloud based solutions.
• Ability to travel domestically and overseas.
• Passion for the Media Entertainment space.
• Bachelor’s degree required in technical, or related fields. Masters or advanced degree desirable.
