We are seeking a Project Manager with a strong AV system integration background to join the Lab Management team based in San Francisco, CA. You will use your business and technical acumen to ensure that assigned projects are efficiently managed and executed to meet both customer expectations and Dolby performance standards. You will drive complex and highly visible projects from initiation to operational hand off while using your careful planning, schedule/resource management, influencing, and communication skills.

 

The Dolby Lab Management team supports over 400+ technical lab environments globally to meet the ever-changing business needs of our business partners: Cinema, Broadcasting, Consumer Entertainment, Advanced Research, Marketing, Real-estate Development, Facilities, Manufacturing, etc. The Lab Systems Project Manager will play a key part in driving many of the infrastructure build, process improvement and support projects across this portfolio of labs with a key focus in our AMER region operations.

 

This is a fast-paced position that requires an individual who can juggle multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and deal with customers while maintaining a positive and even keeled attitude.  The nature of this work requires someone with an elevated level of communication, interpersonal skills, intelligence, common sense, and professionalism.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for driving and managing the scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer engagement/satisfaction of a project throughout its entire lifecycle, from Initiating through Closing phases
  • Drive the communication, design, and buildout activities of cross-functional teams to meet project requirements, ensuring project investment meet customer needs and overall project business objective
  • Anticipate problems and build risk mitigation plans; Communicate critical issues in a timely manner and effective project status updates to management with any potential corrective actions as appropriate
  • Ensure that Dolby’s processes, templates, and tools are properly applied to all projects and work towards continuously improving those tools and project resources
  • Coach other team members on Project Management standards and be an advocate for quality work, change management and project documentation
  • Review project designs created by internal and external resources and ensure they meet Dolby internal CAD standards and project needs
  • Coordinate all system programming and final checkout of systems, providing the punch-list of remaining tasks after substantial completion and coordinating training/turnover of projects to customers and other operational support departments
  • Ensure all budget tracking, procurement and invoicing efforts are managed and controlled to ensure a successful project

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or 5-7 years of Technical AV Project Management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a cross-functional team towards complex problem solving and decision making by using sound judgement and persuasion across all levels of the organization
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of AV, Broadcast, Cinema systems and industry partners such as:  Extron, Crestron, AMX, Biamp, Legrand (all related products), Samsung, Sharp, NEC, Christie, Shure, Black Magic, Cisco, Dante, Nion, Evertz Grass Valley, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Must be comfortable discussing technical details with engineering teams as well as synthesizing concise core messages for senior executives
  • Must be able to interpret low/high voltage wiring, architectural (RCP/Floor Plan), MEP drawings in CAD viewer or similar industry tool (Blue Beam, AutoCAD, Sketchup) for the purposes of ensuring design scope is captured and properly specified with project engineers
  • Experience with project management software and tools for resource, budget, schedule management (Ex. Excel, Smartsheet, Confluence, Asana, Aha, etc)
  • Can-do attitude: ability to roll-up the sleeves and fill-in the gap as needed
  • Ability to travel both Domestic and International to support projects

 

Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with AV over IP installations and commissioning for large scale complex implementations
  • A PMP certification from PMI or desire to attain certification
  • AV industry related certifications considered a plus (CTS, AMX, Crestron, etc)
  • Valid Driver's License and clean Motor Vehicle Record

 

Physical Working Environment:

The PM may be exposed to construction site or lab conditions on a regular basis and required to where PPE. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. The employee must have the ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 20 pounds. When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office/home office conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.
