About the Role:

As an intern on the OS Platforms team, you'll have the opportunity to see and hear the results of your work everywhere, as we work to bring Dolby Atmos to life on Apple and Microsoft devices worldwide. Join us and make a real difference in the world of entertainment.  As a Software Engineer in Test Intern at Dolby you will test software that enables the next generation of Dolby technologies.  

 

Responsibilities:   

  • Build and extend automated test frameworks to expand coverage across Apple devices and endpoints, ensuring reliable quality assurance for Dolby technologies integrated on those devices 

  • Design and develop comprehensive test cases with repeatable test steps and modular, well-organized test scripts that meet product requirements 

  • Identify, document, and track software defects through formal bug tracking systems, creating detailed reports and verifying fixes to maintain product quality 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including senior engineers, developers, and product managers throughout the development lifecycle—from requirements reviews to test planning to bug resolution 

  • Maintain test environments and documentation for both software and hardware configurations, ensuring test setups remain current and well-documented 

  • Follow quality assurance best practices including company standards for test coverage, scripting conventions, and peer review processes 

 

Requirements:  

 

What we would like you to have: 

  • Near completion of Bachelor's degree or working towards Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field  

  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, C#, or Swift with ability to write clean, maintainable code 

  • Understanding of digital audio fundamentals  

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as pytest, or experience with scientific computing libraries like NumPy and SciPy 

  • Experience with macOS/iOS development using Core Audio or AVFoundation 

  • Hands-on experience with software development tools including Jira, Git, and continuous integration (CI) systems 

  • Background in audio engineering, music production, or recording that demonstrates passion for audio technology 

  • Experience developing or testing in multiple operating systems including macOS, Windows, and Linux 

 

Eligibility: 

 

Working towards a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between May/June 2026– August/September 2026. 

 

Start dates for the internship are as follows: (*note* this date is not flexible) 

  • Monday, May 18, 2026 

  • Tuesday, May 26, 2026 

  • Monday, June 15, 2026 

  

 

 

 

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $50-55/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific hourly range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
