Join Dolby Laboratories in exploring the intersection of science and gaming. This position is in the Science Group and will collaborate with Gaming and other technical groups at Dolby. This role will involve the creation of game content, game mechanics and interactive demos to collect perceptual data and build the next generation of gaming experiences.  



  • Create, build, and test gaming scenario experiments and experiences to measure factors contributing to sensory immersion, engagement, and performance. 

  • Form and validate hypotheses about the principle contributing factors underlying enhanced perceptual experiences. 

  • Investigate gaming use cases that present opportunities for enhanced immersion, game control and engagement. 

  • Understand the state-of-the-art advances, rich media formats (CAVE, 360° video, virtual production), and market conditions that are shaping the future of gaming and immersive experiences. 



Candidates should have these skills and background: 

  • Be working towards a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, neuroscience, cognitive sciences, or an advanced art/media degree with a strong technical focus. 

  • Demonstrated success in creation of computer and gaming media such as gaming environments and engines made with Unity and Unreal.

  • Use of programmatic and automation tools to create multimodal art or rich media content, with related technical design, prototyping and production skills. 

  • An understanding and interest in scientific research and experimental design, hypothesis testing, and collection of perceptual data. 

  • Analytical skills and the ability to manipulate, visualize, and extract meaning from diverse data sets. 

  • Working knowledge of computer languages such as Python, development environments, and content creation tools.

Working towards a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, neuroscience, cognitive sciences, or an advanced art/media degree with a strong technical focus, or a related field. Must be available to work full-time Monday–Friday for 3 months starting from January 2023.
