Dolby’s consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby’s breakthrough technologies, powering the world’s top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.

Dolby is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our game creation ecosystem across console, PC and mobile.  Dolby unlocks the power of sight and sound in the pursuit of awe-inspiring experiences, and in gaming we are just getting started.  Come and help lead the evolution of audio and imaging technology in games and open up new creative possibilities for the game development community that they simply never knew were possible.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for a portfolio of products used by creative professionals for the creation and manipulation of games in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. In this role, you will drive product, business, and ecosystem strategy; you will be the voice of the customer, turning feature requests and business requirements - combined with your natural intuition for making great products - into spectacular solutions for the game creation community.

You are innately curious with a passion for games and game creation, and more importantly bringing new experiences to the world. You are experienced in the craft and business of games from the perspectives of content creator, publisher, or tool developer.  You have a deep empathy for how games are made, the artistry that goes into them, and the workflows that make them possible.

You have the technical ability to go deep with research and engineering when required but understand that your real value is your strategic thinking, and your business and product acumen.  You understand how our creation solutions fit into the broader Gaming business to ensure we bring the right solutions to market.

You are a leader, taking your colleagues and customers on the journey with you; inspiring them through your adept knowledge and passion for the work we do.  You can interact with stakeholders across multiple disciplines and geographies. You will have regular engagement with external customers and partners, representing Dolby to the industry. You use data to inform decisions but understand that the data alone never tells the whole story, and your deep empathy for our customers will provide your strongest signals.  You can work both collaboratively, and with a high degree of autonomy.

The position reports to the Sr. Director of Creation, Distribution and Games and is ideally based in San Francisco, although other locations will be considered.

Outputs of the role:

  • Long term vision and strategy for game creation in Dolby formats
  • Clearly defined value proposition(s) and positioning of the solutions we bring to market
  • Portfolio roadmap that delivers differentiated product/market fit
  • Product and feature definition that delivers meaningful value to our customers, and to Dolby
  • Definition and deep understanding of the market segments we serve and why we serve them, both today, and as our roadmap evolves
  • Go-to-market strategy for the portfolio, including channel to market, pricing, licensing etc.
  • Definition and reporting of success metrics

Job duties:

  • Drive execution of the roadmap and strategy
  • Be an internal subject matter expert on game creation
  • Product owner for one or more agile scrum teams
  • Close collaboration with engineering, game developer relations, marketing, legal, commercial partnerships, sales-ops and other internal functions to align and drive execution
  • Provide clear guidance to Dolby’s Advanced Technology Group (ATG) on areas of innovation that are required to deliver on your vision
  • Market and opportunity analysis

  • Expert at getting things done, even when faced with ambiguity and risk; comfortable embracing a mindset of ownership
  • 3+ years product management experience in the area of game creation (or adjacent), with experience of full product lifecycle management, from finding the problems worth solving, through to delivering solutions that achieve a successful differentiated product/market fit
  • Expertise in real-time engine based workflows and tools
  • Passionate about games, and helping game developers realize their creative vision, ideally with a particular passion for audio and imaging technology
  • Ability to lead through influence across organizational boundaries, act as a change-agent in a complex organization and foster an equitable workplace culture
  • Excellent communicator; comfortable presenting complex ideas and information to colleagues or customers in easily understandable ways and can communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • English technical language proficiency

  • Experience in cross-platform game development, publishing, and business operations
  • Experience demonstrating a thorough understanding of the global games business, ideally with experience with mobile gaming
  • Understanding of gaming product positioning within different world regions to maximize results, while taking into consideration cultural differences and sensitivities
  • Experience with licensed technology and associated legal frameworks
  • Experience with immersive audio, HDR imaging, and how they are used in games today
  • Strong connections with AAA game studios and publishers
