Dolby’s consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby’s breakthrough technologies, powering the world’s top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.
- Work deeply with Universal Scene Description (USD/USDZ) assets and specification
- Extend USD generation and playback capabilities within the Unity game engine toward proofs-of-concept
- Collaborate with XR engineers and members of our R&D team
- Develop automated interoperability testing
- Generate technical documentation
- Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in software development, or demonstrates equivalent experience
- XR/Spatial computing experience on platforms like Unity XR, OpenXR, Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, or HoloLens
- Demonstrable experience creating virtual reality (VR) or mixed reality (MR) experiences in Unity
- Demonstrable experience with Python and C#
- Familiarity with USD and glTF scene-graph formats
- Familiarity with media packetization and carriage as described in MPEG-I, MPEG-4 Part 12, and MPEG-4 Part 14
- Familiarity with content creation workflows for linear or interactive media
- Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse or other USD ecosystems
- Experience with Blender, Maya, or Houdini
- Familiarity with digital twins
- Familiarity with HLS or DASH
- Experience optimizing for real-time playback in interactive environments
- Experience with software test development and automated test frameworks (e.g. pytest, Googletest)
Eligibility:
Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in software developmentor a related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between May/June 2026– August/September 2026.

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $50-55/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific hourly range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
