The Revenue Accounting team is responsible for capturing, recognizing, distributing, and accurately reporting on our global licensing, products and services businesses which account for the majority of Dolby’s overall revenue. The Senior Revenue Accountant will be responsible for accurate, timely, and efficient revenue accounting for their assigned area.  The Accountant will be expected to perform complex accounting work with minimal supervision, requiring full professional competency at the non-managerial level, and the ability to interface with external customers and licensees to determine appropriate revenue treatment. The Accountant may research, devise and implement procedures for their assigned area, requiring advanced knowledge of complex accounting principles and the ability to partner with finance colleagues. The Accountant may be required to coordinate with IT to resolve system issues and develop process improvements.  This position will regularly review the work of peers and other team members and may direct the work of temporary and/or more junior accountants. This position will be hybrid out of Atlanta.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze transactions to ensure accurate revenue treatment, determine third-party royalty payments, etc. in accordance with existing contracts. In the case of new deals or contracts, research and validate appropriate treatment.

  • Reconcile accounts related to revenue, such as revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, unrecognized revenue, expense accruals related to third party payments, cost of sales, and other accounts as needed

  • Perform various closing duties for assigned area and other areas as needed, including preparation and review of work, reconciliations, system functions, etc. Work must be performed with sufficient accuracy and autonomy to ensure compliance with quarter-close SOX controls.

  • Review non-standard contracts, identify potential revenue recognition issues, summarize such issues, and recommend accounting treatment based on relevant accounting literature

  • Resolve any systems issues affecting assigned area and partner with IT on development and most efficient use of SAP

  • Assist external and internal auditors as deemed necessary

  • Collaborate and partner with cross functional teams to influence best practices

  • Prepare internal executive review summaries for quarterly senior management financial statement review procedures

  • Assist in the coaching and developing of junior staff as deemed necessary

  • Special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting preferred, with 3-4 years of public accounting experience highly desired (candidates without 3-4 years of public accounting experience should have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting experience to be considered)

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP revenue recognition accounting literature, including ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities

  • Excellent computer skills; MS Office proficiency and efficiency required, especially MS Excel which is heavily used to complete many of the job functions listed above

  • SAP experience highly desired

 

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is $84,500 - $101,500, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
