Dolby Korea is a local support team facing our industry's key customers and reporting to the San Francisco HQ team. We are looking for a Staff Field Application Engineer (hereinafter referred to as FAE) who will work for our implementation customers in semiconductor, soc design, etc. and be responsible for providing technical support with our audio implementation kits.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • You will provide technical support to our customer, serving as major customer facing window, to help them on questions on algorithm, source code and design requirement from Dolby audio implementation development kit.
  • Serve as a local expert on Dolby’s reference code at an algorithmic level for internal staff who are working with customers building hardware and software products.
  • Track, understand, and organize customer feedback on Dolby’s development kits, technology offerings, and support programs and work closely with leaders in support, engineering, and business organizations to make changes that enhance the customers’ experience.
  • Mentor and train junior staff on technical matters and in working with key customers.
  • Support testing and approbation efforts to meet customer go-to-market timelines without compromising product performance. This can include setting up and debugging test fixtures, on-site visits, error log analysis, performing testing, writing test reports, creating / validating / checking in patch code to solve problems encountered by customers, and working with customers, product managers, and the SFO team to develop a “get-well plan.”
  • Work regularly with multi-functional teams across Dolby as the “voice of the customer” providing feedback and driving advancements to Dolby’s products.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Dolby’s licensing business and work to seamlessly match customer needs and timelines to Dolby’s business objectives and release schedules.
  • Occasional international travel will be required.

 

 

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar and 5+ years of engineering experience in consumer electronics or related fields.
  • We are interested in people who are interested in us, so do not worry too much about years of experience.
  • Experience with C programming on embedded or DSP platform
  • C/C++ programming skill
  • Solid knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for audio
  • Related experience in several of the following areas:
    • Algorithm porting, integration and optimization
    • Embedded Systems design
    • Software for embedded processors
    • DSP architectures and their multimedia frameworks
    • ARM toolchain
    • IP-based content delivery and playback products
    • Technology licensing
    • Audio codec (e.g. AAC, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus etc.)
  • Knowledge of MPEG2-TS, MP4, adaptive streaming, HDMI interface is highly desirable.
  • Understanding broadcast spec (DVB, ATSC, etc.), Blu-ray spec, IEC 60958/61937 spec is highly desirable.

 

 

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience on direct customer support or pre-sales support activity.
  • Experience on automotive industry or developing audio consumer products (TV, soundbar, AVR, STB, mobile, etc.).
  • Experience on broadcast, studio (mixing, post-production, etc.).
  • Experience in Linux and Android.
  • Knowledge of Dolby’s ecosystem, products, business, and customers.
  • Python coding skills.
  • Interest in music, game/film audio or video highly desirable.
