SUMMARY
Dolby’s Applied Vision Science Group is a small collaborative team within Dolby that investigates perceptual aspects of the human visual system and turns what we learn into image processing algorithms for improving perceived video quality. Our goal is to expand the reach of deep learning algorithms to solve fundamental problems pertaining to human perception. Understanding the relationship between science, art, and engineering is key to doing this well. Our group is looking for a motivated and energetic engineer/designer to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA and contribute to this meaningful effort.
 
We are specifically looking for a talented, curious, and inventive individual to develop synthetic deep learning datasets for face detection, video super-resolution, and other applications using modeling software such as Unity or Unreal. As part of the algorithm development team, you will be responsible for inventing, designing, and creating deep learning datasets while collaborating with other team members on our team.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and design deep learning datasets for video processing tasks such as face detection and super-resolution
  • Create models in simulation software such as Unity or Unreal to create virtual tailored datasets
  • Work with members of the team to define dataset needs and use cases 
  • Compile a curated and organized dataset that is well documented for future use

 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in modeling software and scripting in modern engines (Unity, Unreal, etc)
  • Experience with deep learning and dataset creation is a plus
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills; ability to prototype quickly
  • A team-oriented work ethic, and ability to work under minimal supervision

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, 3D Design, Imaging Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field; recent grads who are within 3 months of graduation are also eligible to apply
  • Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between January 2022 – April 2022. The start date for this position is Monday, January 24, 2022. Please note the start date is not flexible.
