The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research division of the company. Dolby Laboratories is looking for a self-motivated, talented individual interested in applying their theoretical and practical expertise to the development of new technologies. The position is in the Multimodal Processing Team – within the Advanced Technology Group of Dolby Laboratories. It will involve working in close collaboration with other research scientists/engineers/AI researchers in multiple locations.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Machine Perception and Reasoning team, you will develop innovative AI algorithms designed to process audio and/or video data for applications in content watermarking, model poisoning, deepfake detection, content attribution, and related areas within trustworthy AI. Your contributions will help ensure the protection and traceability of audiovisual content, enable accurate attribution for content used in generative model training, and address other critical use cases in the field. This internship involves a direct collaboration with Dolby business partners (music labels and/or movie studios).

What are we looking for in candidates?
Along with your solid technical skills, candidates should demonstrate problem-solving and analytical abilities, good communication and collaboration skills, a curiosity for how and why things work as they do, and a passion for audio, video, movies, music, or game technology.

Qualifications
- Working towards a Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience developing and training deep learning architectures.
- Experience working with deep learning architecture for audio and/or video applications.
- Research experience in trustworthy AI is a plus, specifically in content watermarking and attribution, model traceability, deep fake detection, and related areas.
- First-author publications at top-tier peer-reviewed AI conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, InterSpeech, ICASSP, etc.).
- Programming experience in Python, and experience working with frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Ability to prototype quickly, with adept critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented work ethic.
Eligibility
Working towards a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; recent grads within six months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time, Monday – Friday for 3 months between September 2025 – December 2025.
Start date for the internship is as follows: (*note* this date is not flexible)

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $57/hr, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
