Dolby is seeking a seasoned Solutions Architect to lead the design and enablement of content distribution solutions powering Dolby’s next-generation audio and imaging experiences, including Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Audio. The position reports to the Senior Director of the Professional Products & Solutions team and is based in Dolby HQ in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, USA.

 

Working with key ecosystem players such as OTT streaming platforms, PayTV operators, Broadcasters and media processing and delivery infrastructure suppliers, we expect you to drive the design and roll-out of media processing solutions that provide the best value for these partners, are simple to deploy, scalable, and designed to mesh into existing or future workflows. We expect you to be customer-centric with strong business acumen and technical depth with hands-on experiences in defining, architecting, and launching complex media processing and delivery workflows.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Drive the content distribution ecosystem to deploy our Next Generation Audio and Imaging Experiences to all consumer entertainment devices. Define and manage the workflow solutions required to enable the right blend and volume content to flow through distribution channels to support our strategic objectives.
  • Bring in the expertise to ensure we enable scalable solutions for existing and new workflows. Have a strong technical knowledge of the content distribution workflows’ sub-systems (ingest/playout, processing, ad-insertion, packaging and delivery).
  • Develop Market Requirement Documents (MRD) documenting high level use cases and industry best practices for legacy and new workflows including Primary Distribution, Secondary Distribution, Ad insertion, VOD streaming, Live Streaming, Live/Linear delivery, Live to VOD, Ingest/Playout, and QC/Monitoring.
  • Develop Solution Requirement Documents (SRD) designing and documenting the generic, standardized, architecture for File-based and Live/Linear Workflows. Identify all system level components and audio/video processing stages where Dolby’s audio and imaging technologies need to be embedded.
  • Develop sales collaterals such as solutions’ briefs, whitepapers and training material. Represent Dolby in webinars oriented towards promoting our technologies, products and our professional partners’ products and solutions.
  • Drive long term workflow solution roadmap. Analyze and synthetize content distribution workflow technical market trends and define the 5-year high level solution and workflow roadmap to ensure that our products and technologies will mesh seamlessly in future workflows. Interface with the Product Management teams to align the product roadmaps with the SRDs and solution roadmap.
  • Identify new products Dolby needs to develop and the key target partners required to enable the solutions/workflows.
  • Provide direct support to Sales and Support organizations for strategic services launches.
  • Work with the Audio and Imaging Technologies Architecture teams and CTO office to define the technology roadmap and priorities required to support the workflow enablement strategy.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education Requirement

  • 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering, products/solutions management or system architect role in the OTT streaming, broadcast and PayTV or closely-related industries.
  • Strong expertise of system architectures, products and technologies used throughout the Broadcast, PayTV and OTT content delivery workflows, including cloud-based workflows and solutions, content encoding, packaging, QC/Monitoring, Ad Insertion, delivery platforms, DRMs, online media formats and audio/video codecs.
  • Experience with media processing stacks deployed by social media organizations (e.g. Facebook, YouTube) is desirable.
  • Proven track record of defining and building Media Processing solutions in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to identify, develop, and clearly articulate creative, logical, and innovative technical solutions for complex ecosystem problems.
  • Ability to develop professionally valuable relationships with customers and partners.
  • Self-driven, with the ability to work independently and lead collaboratively diverse teams, both functionally and geographically.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You will have a strong public presence with the talent to synthesize complex topics and present them effectively. You have the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with diverse teams and to build strong relationships.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate credibly to partners and can represent technology in a way that partners and customers will consider as an informed expert.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver clear technical marketing documents and presentations.
  • Ability to travel domestically and overseas.
  •  Bachelor’s degree required in technical or related fields. Masters or advanced degree desirable.
