As a Senior Software Engineer in Test focused on algorithmic validation of video technologies, you will design, implement, and manage test environments and pipelines, execute detailed test plans, and ensure the integrity of high-fidelity video workflows. You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional visual experiences through next-generation video formats and technologies, collaborating closely with engineering teams to uphold quality and performance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Data Management: Backing up footage, ensuring footage is copied to multiple hard drives, and managing storage space.
- File Organization: Properly labeling, logging, and organizing all video files.
- Quality Control: Performing checks for video artifacts, picture defects, confirming visual experience.
- Transcoding: Converting raw footage into more manageable formats for editing and VFX.
- Metadata Management: Ensuring accurate and consistent metadata is applied to files.
- Security: Implementing and maintaining secure storage and access protocols for all data.
- Create and execute release level test plans and feature level test designs including detailed test cases
- Develop and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
- Perform various testing types including functional, boundary, negative, fuzz and performance testing.
- Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with developers to find root cause
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and testability
- Analyze test results and provide detailed quality reports to leadership
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across different environments
- Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to process improvements
- Contribute to test infrastructure design and implementation
- Interprets generally defined practices and methods
- Applies knowledge and understanding of customer needs. Understands, challenges, defines, and manages individual requirements.
- Participate in setting project timeframes and priorities based on project objectives and ongoing assignments
Requirements:
- Professional experience with test automation and programming and scripting.
- Fluent in Python and conversant in MATLAB and C++ required.
- Experience in testing latest generation video technologies.
- Knowledge of video technologies, cinema and television production and post-production workflows such as with Davinci Resolve.
- Knowledge of professional video data formats such as YGB, RGB, HDR, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG.
- Excellent knowledge of and experience with current software testing industry tools and standard methodologies (ASTQB)
- Experience testing in multiple software environments. Windows, OS X, Linux, required.
- Familiarity with standard bug reporting tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, or ClearQuest.
- Achieve results, meet deadlines, and adjust to quickly changing priorities in a dynamic engineering environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills
- Experience in Agile/Scrum software development
- Experience testing Dolby or other products in the video domain is a significant plus
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in software testing, including creating and implementing comprehensive test plans.
- Passion for visual media is a plus.
The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $133,100 - $182,800, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
