You will bring your experience in video processing technology to the Dolby Vision system. As a prerequisite for your work, you have proven knowledge of signal/image/video processing. Your solid understanding of trade-offs between computational complexity and picture quality gain of different implementations will guide you in decisions. You will research and develop new algorithms to improve the Dolby Vision system, develop a proof-of-concept prototype, and evaluate end-to-end system performance.


You must have an in-depth understanding of the key processes in image and video processing systems. You have extensive experience in developing encoding and pre-/post-processing algorithms to improve perceptual picture quality. You will join a highly skilled and motivated team to research and develop advanced video encoding and video processing technologies to improve user experience. Job Functions

  • Works with a general understanding of competitive technologies in the area of focus.
  • Works to understand the system context in which new technologies will be used and the requirements that the technology must fulfill for success.
  • Creates early-stage conceptual models that demonstrate feasibility.
  • Creates application level reference software and/or embedded signal processing software and/or prototype hardware or related firmware that are efficient, modular, well documented, bug-free and understandable by others skilled in the art.
  • Document and present the new algorithms and implementations in various forms, such as technical white papers and internal meeting
  • Maintain the highest technical and moral integrity for Dolby in the workplace and marketplace.


Skills, Education, and Experience Required

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing algorithms for video processing systems.
  • Intimately familiar with video processing, video coding, computer vision, and machine learning systems, as well as corresponding software in consumer and professional products.
  • In-depth understanding of pre-/post-processing algorithms and machine learning knowledge including implementation aspects.
  • Proficient in Matlab/C/C++/Python programming applied to image/video processing and machine learning is required.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and strong team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •  It is highly desirable to have one or more of the following:
  • Experience in filing patents of newly developed technologies.
  • Proven track record of successful research accomplishments, published papers, and/or patent applications in the field of video encoding and processing.
