SUMMARY

The Advance Technology Group is looking to recruit interns in the Imaging Advanced Development group. The qualified candidate will develop novel image/video processing and synthesis technology that enables the next generation of Dolby products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research novel ways of packaging and transmitting 360 degree video images – and associated metadata – to allow good reconstruction, with low latency of response
  • Find efficient ways of sending information from multiple view points, or find ways of sending limited views with tactically constructed metadata
  • Design compression schemes that leverage spatio-temporal coherence of video data
  • Use ground truth data and develop quality metrics to evaluate performance of different algorithmic implementations
  • Work with other software engineers to ensure algorithms are implementable on off-the-shelf decoding hardware
  • Make presentations to colleagues - write technical reports

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates working towards a Master’s or PhD (preferred) in electrical engineering, computer science or related field
  • Solid research background in computer vision, video compression or related fields
  • Proven track record of publications in first-tier conferences and/or journals
  • Power user of Matlab or Python
  • Experience in JAVA, C/C++ a strong plus
  • Experience with OpenCV and HEVC a plus
  • Strong team player, with good written and verbal communication skills

 

ELIGIBILITY

Working towards a Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday – Friday for 3 months between May/June 2022 – Aug/Sept 2022.
