The Dolby Data Platform, a new initiative for Dolby, is seeking to re-imagine user experience by leveraging big data. As part of a small, agile, start-up team you will be a key contributor to a major new initiative that will reshape how Dolby builds products, and works with creators and partners globally. We are seeking inquisitive candidates who want to explore what’s possible, to help transform Dolby’s future.

This role is responsible for developing data products which will enable the next generation of Dolby solutions. This role requires a very good understanding of cloud architecture and highly scalable data workflows. The position demands a candidate capable of doing high quality work against technical and schedule challenges, while following strong software design and process principles. This role will regularly interact with different teams inside Dolby and requires strong collaboration skills.

The Role:
•    Design, develop and deliver company wide solutions for managing large volumes of analytics data 
•    Ensure solutions are developed based on a high-quality, cloud-first scalable architecture. 
•    Serve as a member of project scrum team and follow industry best practice software development processes. 
•    Review quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback 
•    Estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating development activities
•    Produce and maintain accurate design documentation and code comments.
•    Design and implement developer tests to ensure software conforms to requirements
•    Effectively manage time to achieve personal and team goals in an agile development environment
•    Effectively employ written and verbal communications to collaborate with business ownership, product management, engineering, and research team members
•    Demonstrate a positive and ethical work style.


What you'll need:
•    B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable field. 
•    4+ years' solid commercial experience designing and building cloud-based solutions
•    Detailed knowledge of challenges related to capture and processing of high volumes of data including Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
•    Working knowledge of at least one commercial or open-source data pipeline/platform.
•    Experienced and comfortable working within an Agile Environment. 
•    High level written and verbal communication in both general and technology-specific applications
•    Experience or solid theoretical understanding of data workflows including: 

  •      Ingestion
  •     Batch and stream processing
  •     Storage and archiving
  •     Visualization/Reporting and Dashboards

•    Problem solving and debugging skills
