The Dolby Data Platform, a new initiative for Dolby, is seeking to re-imagine user experience by leveraging big data. As part of a small, agile, start-up team you will be a key contributor to a major new initiative that will reshape how Dolby builds products, and works with creators and partners globally. We are seeking inquisitive candidates who want to explore what’s possible, to help transform Dolby’s future.

 

 The Senior Data/QA Engineer is part of our newly created data Platform team and is responsible for developing and testing data products which will enable the next generation of Dolby solutions. This is a developer/QA engineer role that will be a great fit for someone with a good understanding of cloud architecture, data workflows and QA processes that can be integrated into CI/CD workflows. We are looking for someone who can do high-quality work against technical and schedule challenges, while following strong software design and process principles.

 

The Role:
•    Passionate about product quality
•    Design, develop and deliver company-wide solutions for managing large volumes of analytics data 
•    Ensure solutions are developed based on a high-quality, cloud-first scalable architecture. 
•    Serve as a member of project scrum team and follow industry best practice software development processes. 
•    Provide CI/CD orientated QA for new data products and services.
•    Review quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback 
•    Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases 
•    Estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating quality testing activities
•    Produce and maintain accurate design documentation and code comments.
 

What you'll need: 
•    B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable field. 
•    4+ years' solid commercial experience designing and building cloud-based solutions
•    Detailed knowledge of challenges related to capture and processing of high volumes of data including Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
•    Working knowledge of at least one commercial or open-source data pipeline/platform.
•    Experienced and comfortable working within an Agile Environment. 
•    Must be knowledgeable of CI/CD processes and techniques 
•    High level written and verbal communication in both general and technology-specific applications
•    Experience or solid theoretical understanding of data workflows including: 

  •     Ingestion
  •     Batch and stream processing
  •     Storage and archiving
  •     Visualization/Reporting and Dashboards

•    Problem solving and debugging skills
