The Staff PQ engineer will demonstrate a solid understanding and prior knowledge of different aspects in digital image / video processing pipeline in professional and consumer capture and display devices. You’ll be working on the development, implementation of cutting-edge picture quality measurement and tuning methods and tools. You will mentor junior engineers.

 

Responsibilities
• Design and implement picture quality tuning processes and workflows. Specify and lead the development of tools and utilities to support image and video quality tuning and evaluation.
• Fine tune image and video quality in display and capture systems using both subjective and objective evaluation methods.
• Measure, characterize, and analyze display performance
• Create and encode picture quality test patterns, measurement images, and video streams for quality assessment.
• Conduct training sessions for support, field, and OEM engineers on tools and utilities developed by the picture quality team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development and quality assurance
• Interface with SoC and display vendors to understand image and video processing functions.
• Work directly with customers to understand their feedback and requirements, and resolve field issues in a timely manner.
• Design and specify video quality review processes and procedures.


Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with video codecs and compression standards including H.264, H.265, and HEVC. Knowledge of video analysis tools, HDMI, and perceptual video quality testing methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of digital image and video processing theory and practical implementation.
• Understanding of image and video processing pipelines across multiple platforms including automotive systems, televisions, monitors, PCs, gaming consoles, tablets, and mobile devices.
• Experience with video post-processing algorithms including sharpness enhancement, noise reduction, and frame rate conversion, combined with expertise in image quality metrics, measurement techniques, and optimization methodologies.
• Understanding of display backlight technologies and experience in fine-tuning control modules for optimized picture quality.
• Knowledge of advanced display technologies including HDR (High Dynamic Range), and related processing techniques.
• Deep understanding of color science principles including color management, color accuracy display, and HDR video processing.
• Expertise in image and video processing algorithms with ability to optimize and improve picture quality with teams based on customer requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills for resolving complex technical challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both internal teams and external customers across diverse technical backgrounds and expertise levels.
• Experience with programming languages including Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
