The Dolby Data Platform, a new initiative for Dolby, is seeking to re-imagine user experience by leveraging big data. As part of a small, agile, start-up team you will be a key contributor to a major new initiative that will reshape how Dolby builds products, and works with creators and partners globally. We are seeking inquisitive candidates who want to explore what’s possible, to help transform Dolby’s future.

 

This is a Tech Lead position in our newly created Data Platform team and is responsible for developing technologies to support disruptive new products that enable the next generation of Dolby solutions. This is a senior technical contributor and developer role which will be a great fit for someone with a very good understanding of cloud architecture and highly scalable data workflows. We are looking for someone who is capable of doing high-quality work against technical and schedule challenges, while following strong software design and process principles.

 

The Role:
•    Design, develop and deliver company-wide solutions responsible for managing large volumes of data 
•    Ensure solutions are developed based on a high-quality, cloud-first scalable architecture. 
•    Serve as a senior member of project scrum team and follow industry best practice software development processes. 
•    Serve as a technical mentor for other data platform developers
•    Provide input to the team regarding implementation limitations and suggest alternate approaches.
•    Create modular, reliable, efficient and readable code that adheres to Dolby standards.
•    Produce and maintain accurate design documentation and code comments.
•    Design and implement developer tests to ensure software conforms to requirements
 

What you'll need: 
•    B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable field. 
•    6+ years' solid commercial experience designing and building cloud-based solutions
•    Detailed knowledge of challenges related to capture and processing of high volumes of data including Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
•    Working knowledge of at least one commercial or open-source data pipeline/platform
•    Experienced and comfortable working within an Agile Environment. 
•    Ability to identify and mitigate risks in a large project and engage clearly with platform clients 
•    High level written and verbal communication in both general and technology-specific applications
•    Experience or solid theoretical understanding of data workflows including: 
    o    Ingestion
    o    Batch and stream processing
    o    Storage and archiving
    o    Visualization/Reporting and Dashboards
•    Machine learning (Desirable)
•    Problem solving and debugging skills
