Summary Description

The Content Creation Technical Support Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Contents and Workflow. This position will influence the adoption of Dolby Technologies within the content-making world in Japan by positioning Dolby as a strategic partner through regular interface with content companies and other external partners who support content creators. This position will support content creators in learning about the technology and tools needed to produce content using Dolby technology.


Essential Job Functions

  • Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Gaining knowledge of technologies and the operation of tools to produce content adopting Dolby's technologies and to provide technical support to creators
  • Providing sales support and technical activities for production tools (ex. Pro Tools/ Nuendo/Logic Pro)
  • Evaluating the differences and compatibility with other technologies to provide producers with methods such as conversion that maintain accurate compatibility to expand the use case with Dolby.


Essential Job Activities

  • Provide customer support for professional products such as DAPS/DAMS/DME/CMU with agents
  • Provide validation and customer support for Atmos workflows
  • Check, explain, and support Atmos operation for ProTools, Nuendo, Resolve and Renderer
  • Beta test new products and new versions of existing products
  • Attend collaborative content creation seminars conducted by partners
  • Design reviews of Atmos studios and performance checks of audio equipment
  • Support internal and partners at events such as InterBEE
  • Syrah (in-house studio facility) maintenance and equipment updates


Other Responsibilities

  • This role is based in Japan, reporting to the Sr Manager of Contents and Workflow.
  • Work flexibly and with respect for teamwork. 


Required Technology Background 

  • Experience operating a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and/or DVEW (Digital Video Editing Workstation) is preferred.
  • Understanding and experience with audio production workflows, DAW and DTM operation
  • Knowledge of studio operations and design, audio on computer file systems, DVD, BD and UHDBD media, codec standards and authoring, file and signal specification generality, and operation of unique formats


Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required

  • B.A. or B.S. in related basic audio engineering or basic electrical engineering
  • Business degree or equivalent; 6-10 years of relevant technical support experience 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in English and Japanese
  • Experience related to music content production is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with video-related technologies is preferred
  • Japanese: native-level proficiency required
  • English: TOEIC score of more than 750 required
  • Ability to make presentations in front of partners, prospects
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, work to deadlines
  • Interest in music, entertainment, gaming or films is desired
  • International travel and work experience is desired
