Summary Description

 

The License Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue and achieving financial targets aligned with Dolby’s short- and mid-term business plans in Japan. This role reports to the Senior License Sales Manager and works closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, marketing, and sales operations, as well as global stakeholders, to develop sales strategies and execute business objectives for targeted markets and customers. The position plays a key role in advancing Dolby’s business by successfully executing sales strategies and expanding relationships with customers in Japan.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

Business Strategy and Revenue Growth

  • Establish business strategies and achieve annual and quarterly revenue targets and qualitative project goals, contributing to the growth of the Dolby ecosystem.
  • Drive the adoption of Dolby technologies, including Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision for automotive applications, by securing business opportunities, design-ins, and design-wins with automotive OEMs and car audio manufacturers in Japan.
  • Manage assigned accounts and develop new business opportunities to expand Dolby’s automotive business.

Customer Engagement and Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mid- to senior-level customer stakeholders and incorporate market feedback into sales strategies.
  • Ensure successful deployment of Dolby technologies in collaboration with engineering and support teams, contributing to customer success and end-user entertainment experiences.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Business Operations

  • Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales Operations, and other internal teams to support strategic partnerships and achieve business objectives.
  • Develop partnerships with content creators and OTT service providers to expand Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos content and support alignment with automotive initiatives.
  • Support marketing activities to increase Dolby brand awareness and technology adoption.
  • Work with Sales Operations and IP Compliance teams to resolve sales-related issues and maintain accurate records in Salesforce and other internal systems, including forecasts and revenue tracking.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Provide support to team members as needed.

 

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales or related business experience with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • Business experience working with automotive OEMs and/or car audio manufacturers.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Willingness to travel domestically within Japan and occasionally internationally, as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established relationships with automotive OEMs such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, or Suzuki.
  • Business experience working with car audio manufacturers, semiconductor companies, or software vendors.
  • Experience in licensing sales, particularly with automotive OEM customers in Japan.
