The Apps & Automation Team builds engineering infrastructure with proven open source technologies and provides integration layers and tools specific to Dolby’s products and testing needs. The position requires a versatile and curious mind, always willing to explore new areas and draw parallels between technologies.

The Apps & Automation engineer is part of a global team responsible for developing software and services to support broad global and reusable infrastructure and applications leveraged by global engineering teams at Dolby.


The position is responsible for developing and delivering a GUI application based on web technologies. This application is used internally and by Dolby customers. You will directly impact the selection of technologies and software architecture in your projects.


Candidates require skills in software design, software development, system, and integration testing. In addition, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.


Job Functions and Competencies

  • Develop web and desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Design architecture of applications.
  • Ensure software documentation is up-to-date.
  • Communicate with other team members and contribute to a friendly and efficient work environment.


Skills, Education and Attribute Competencies

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or relevant field.
  • 4+ years of commercial Node.js development experience.
  • JavaScript/TypeScript programming skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience preferably with Electron or Chromium Embedded Framework.
  • Solid HTML5 and CSS3 knowledge.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.


Nice to have

  • Experience preferably with Vue.js or React/Angular framework.
  • Experience with state management (preferably VUEX).
  • Experience with UI frameworks (such as Vuetify or Bootstrap).
  • Project Management/Scrum Master experience.
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Knowledge of Django framework.
